MegaHouse has opened preorders for a new Spider Head figure based on The Thing, John Carpenter’s 1982 creature horror landmark, joining the company’s Soft Vinyl Fantastic line of collectibles.
The 4.7 inch vinyl figure recreates one of the film’s most notorious practical effects: the disembodied, spider legged head that scuttles away from an assimilated corpse in one of The Thing’s signature gross out sequences. MegaHouse is offering the figure in two versions, a flesh coloured Collector Edition priced at $125 USD and a purple Limited Color Version priced at $130 USD, both available now through Sideshow Collectibles with an estimated arrival window of February 2027. Purchase limits apply: six units per customer for the Collector Edition and two for the Limited Color Version.
The figure’s official product description calls it a design that strikes “an exquisite balance between a realistic facial expression and stylized body proportions,” aimed at both casual movie fans and dedicated horror figure collectors. It is the latest piece of officially licensed The Thing merchandise to arrive amid the film’s ongoing critical reappraisal, its reputation dramatically rebuilt in the decades since a rocky 1982 release that saw it overshadowed at the box office by E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
Fans looking to add the Spider Head to their shelves can preorder both versions directly through Sideshow now, with shipping expected in early 2027.
