Exclusive release info and art, plus trailer: Folk-horror film “DOGGED”

The award-winning British horror film DOGGED is headed for simultaneous release in both the U.S. and UK this summer; we’ve got the exclusive details and first look at the art.

Left Films will issue DOGGED (which won Best Horror Feature at the Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival, among numerous other wins and nominations) on VOD and DVD in North America, the UK and Ireland July 9. Directed by Richard Rowntree from a script he wrote with Matthew Davies, and based on his short of the same title, the movie stars Sam Saunders, Toby Wynn-Davies, Aiysha Jebali, Philip Ridout, Nick Stopien, Debra Leigh-Taylor and Tony Manders. The synopsis: “When 10-year-old Megan Lancaster meets a grisly and untimely end, Sam [Saunders] is forced to return to the remote tidal island where he grew up to attend the funeral. A testing relationship with his disconnected parents, a reunion with his estranged girlfriend Rachel [Jebali] and a cryptic message from the island’s doctor force Sam to investigate the events leading up to Megan’s tragic death. The truth is far more shocking and unbelievable than Sam wants to acknowledge, and his life begins to spiral out of control in a macabre descent of paranoia. Sam must race against tide and time to expose the seedy underbelly of the island—and to save the lives of those he loves.”
