The Italian goremeister’s semi-autobiographical gorefest has now been rebooted with another horror director in the lead.
Having premiered at the Ischia International Film Festival, NIGHTMARE SYMPHONY is being brought to the American Film Market 2020 virtual edition (beginning November 9) by EuroObscura. This remake of A CAT IN THE BRAIN (a.k.a. NIGHTMARE CONCERT), which Lucio Fulci directed and starred in as a horror auteur confronted by a murder spree inspired by his work, was scripted by Antonio Tentori, one of CAT’S three screenwriters, and directed by Domiziano Cristopharo (RED KROKODIL). This time, the fright filmmaker at the center of the story is played by Frank LaLoggia, director of FEAR NO EVIL and LADY IN WHITE, and the cast also includes Antonella Salvucci, Halil Budakova, Poison Rouge and Tentori. According to NIGHTMARE SYMPHONY’s official synopsis, the film “focuses on a horror director who is struggling to complete his movie, while a series of gruesome murders happen all around him. Eventually he will be forced to face his worst and most terrifying nightmares.”
