FAB Press has opened up pre-orders for NAKED THEATER & UNCENSORED HORROR, a memoir by Stuart Gordon, the late and celebrated director of RE-ANIMATOR, FROM BEYOND and many others. In the 360-page book, Gordon (who passed away in 2020) relates his life and career, from his student days through his experimental and transgressive theater to his film career. According to the publisher, “Gordon’s memoir is authentically funny, disarmingly honest, and unexpectedly touching–a compelling glimpse into the life of a director happiest in Hollywood’s hinterlands, pushing the limits of what the mainstream would accept. It’s the story of a bona fide original, an uncompromising artist with the common touch, and of a loving family man who delighted in disturbing us all with his restless, brilliant imagination.”
The book includes 150 color and black-and-white illustrations, and is currently available for pre-order at the FAB Press website in a Collector’s Edition. The cloth-covered hardback with black foil embossing on the spine and cover boards plus jacket, RE-ANIMATOR title sequence-inspired endpapers, and other features that will not be present in the trade edition hardcover, is available solo and in three different bundles. These include TALES FROM THE GORDON GRIMOIRE, a slipcased collection of six paperback books containing the stories that inspired Gordon’s features (“Herbert West–Reanimator,” “The Pit and the Pendulum,” etc.), Jason Heeley art prints, a 2024 Gordon-movie calendar, a FROM BEYOND “Humans Are Such Easy Prey” T-shirt and more. The book and bundles are due to ship July 20; the trade edition has a street date of September 28.
