MONSTRUOS!!!
If you’ve been keeping up with the Halloween Mystery Toy Calendar, you know that we recently dipped into the horror-loving, disco-chested Mexican bootleg world. Now, we make a quick stop in Spain with a figure series called MONSTRUOS!!! Like the iconic Marx Monsters, Monstruos figures pop up all over the world in a variety of colorways. Whether that is due to bootlegging or the origin company reusing their molds for all they are worth, I could not tell you! What is evident is that, in a lot of the figures, you’ll see a heavy EC Comics influence. There’s not a doubt in my mind that it makes these figures instantly drool-worthy, as any hardcore horror fan can instantly recognize the EC Comics art style. In a world where toy companies feel satisfied to dish out cookie-cutter monsters with zero imagination and lackluster sculpting, these figures go hard.
