The Ireland-lensed movie is coming to the scream streamer’s platforms worldwide, as well as U.S. theaters.
Shudder has announced its acquisition of THE CELLAR, which will world-premiere at next month’s SXSW Film Festival before streaming exclusively via Shudder in North America, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, with U.S. big-screen release via RLJE Films, all on April 15. Written and directed by Brendan Muldowney and shot in Roscommon, Ireland, it stars Elisha Cuthbert, Eoin Macken, Abby Fitz and Dylan Fitzmaurice-Brady. The synopsis: “THE CELLAR tells the story of Keira Woods [Cuthbert], whose daughter mysteriously vanishes in the cellar of their new house in the country. Keira soon discovers there is an ancient and powerful entity controlling their home that she will have to face or risk losing her family’s souls forever.”
