Phoenixville, PA – Horror Bowl is back and ready for its second down! What is Horror Bowl, you ask? A movie marathon at Phoenixville’s iconic Colonial Theatre with three horror films as an alternative to the “big game.” In keeping with Horror Bowl’s thematic tradition (the first was John Carpenter’s Apocalypse Trilogy), this year’s mini-marathon honors Tom Atkins by featuring three of our favorites from his filmography. “Half Time” features a collection of film trailers featuring our MVP, Tom Atkins, plus additional oddities celebrating the trailer experience.
“There is a communal experience to that Sunday, but not everyone either enjoys football or particularly cares about the teams involved,” says Director of Programming at the Colonial Theatre, Bob Trate. “We discovered, at the first Horror Bowl, that people still wanted to get together and watch something other than multimillion-dollar commercials. Our Horror Community is incredible and we thought this would be a fun afternoon for them.”
Will there be wings? Outside of the regular movie theater concession offerings that the Colonial has, plus beer and wine, we have an additional $15.00 ticket add-on that allows our patrons to pick one of the sandwiches from Dixie Picnic’s Famous Box Lunches. These come with pasta salad, a deviled egg, and Dixie’s special cupcake. Fear not, there is a Vegan option too.
There is also an event poster by Quiltface Studios to mark the occasion. “Quiltface Studios has been the essential artist for many of our larger events. We wouldn’t think of having this event with their involvement,” says Chuck Francisco, Colonial Theatre Programming Committee Member. Along with the event poster (see attached), Quiltface Studios will have a few other unique Horror Bowl items for sale.

The Fog

Synopsis: Strange happenings befall a tiny California coastal town preparing to commemorate its centenary. Inanimate objects spring eerily to life; Rev. Halloween III: Season of the Witch

Synopsis: Emergency room doctor, Dr. Daniel “Dan” Challis (Tom Atkins), and Ellie Grimbridge (Stace Nelkin), the daughter of a murder victim, uncover a terrible plot by small-town mask maker Conal Cochran (Dan O’Herlihy). The madman plans to use an ancient Celtic ritual; a boulder stolen from Stonehenge; Silver Shamrock masks; and a trigger buried in a television commercial . . . to kill millions of children in a Halloween mass murder.
