“CENSOR” director prepares to “FIRE” up her next fright feature

She’s teaming with the producers of THE LIGHTHOUSE on her new project.

Variety reports that Prano Bailey-Bond, who directed this year’s breakout horror film CENSOR, will next helm THINGS WE LOST IN THE FIRE from a screenplay she’ll write with CENSOR co-scripter Anthony Fletcher. It’s based on the short story by Mariana Enriquez (no relation to the same-titled 2007 drama starring Halle Berry), and according to the trade, “In the film, a terrorized female community resorts to ever more extreme actions in response to male violence. The story marries elements of horror and feminism in a subversive commentary on the modern day beauty myth; a dark vision of a society where women take back control of their image in the most drastic manner imaginable.”

“This is an incredibly provocative and relevant story with a ferocious energy at its heart,” Bailey-Bond says. “It’s an honor to adapt this story for the screen.” Adds Rodrigo Teixeira, who will produce THINGS WE LOST with LIGHTHOUSE collaborator Lourenço Sant’Anna, “We’ve controlled this property for some time now and the fact that Prano reached out to us about it means a lot. She’s incredibly talented, and CENSOR is a hell of a first feature.” See our interview with Bailey-Bond about CENSOR here and here.
