They’ve figured out a way for the actress to return to the role she first played 11 years ago.
Deadline reports that Isabelle Fuhrman will co-star and also serve as associate producer on ORPHAN: FIRST KILL, on which the filmmakers will employ “a combination of forced perspective shooting and a world-class makeup team” to allow her to play Esther again. Julia Stiles (DEXTER) also stars in ORPHAN: FIRST KILL, which Dark Castle Entertainment and Entertainment One are producing. William Brent Bell of THE BOY and its sequel is directing on Winnipeg locations, from a screenplay by David Coggeshall (THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT 2, SCREAM: THE SERIES); original scripter David Leslie Johnson is among the executive producers. The synopsis: “Leena Klammer orchestrates a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. But Leena’s new life as ‘Esther’ comes with an unexpected wrinkle and pits her against a mother who will protect her family at any cost.”
Since breaking out in ORPHAN, the 2009 hit in which she played Esther, a malevolent Eastern European girl who invades the lives of Peter Skarsgaard and Vera Farmiga, Fuhrman has appeared in THE HUNGER GAMES, the Stephen King chiller CELL and DOWN A DARK HALL. She’ll be seen next year in ESCAPE ROOM 2, due for release in January, and the indie period chiller THE LAST THING MARY SAW.
