Add Some Garage Rock To Your Halloween Festivities With the “Heart Attack Horror Show”

Just in time for Halloween, Canadian garage rockers the Heart Attack Kids invite you to join their spooktacular Heart Attack Horror Show presented by Rue Morgue!

Founding member Jared Ellul (guitar/vox) shares, “We really wanted to bring something special to the holiday, deciding to make our own horror movie with themed cover songs we would have fun playing. ‘Miss Murder’ by AFI is a song we have all enjoyed since Guitar Hero 2 (who could forget that?). ‘Pet Sematary’ was an obvious choice, the Ramones really captured Halloween punk rock with that song. Lastly, we picked ‘Psycho Killer’ by Talking Heads and made it move in true high-energy Heart Attack Kids fashion.”

Ellul continues, “My favourite holiday has always been Halloween. I love how people go all out for it, decorating their houses to the extreme and dressing up in scary costumes.” For the setting, “we converted our jam space into a haunted house combining all of the decorations we had to create something truly terrifying. Creating the intro for the video was so much fun, establishing those horror movie vibes we envisioned. We wrote the monologue and creepy piano music together with my brother Jacob Ellul who edited the video. I really feel like it brought the show to a new level of spooky.”

Heart Attack Kids features Ellul, who is joined by Craig Gignac on bass and vocals. With guitars sounding 100 feet tall, fuzzed-out bass lines, and thunderous drums, the band’s high-octane sound and frenetic onstage energy has helped amass a rocksteady fan base including Cancer Bats’ frontman Liam Cormier who produced HAK’s electrifying sophomore effort Bad Luck Like Gold released in April 2019. The band is currently working on their third LP and is represented by New Damage Records.
