Nature-amok fans will want to hop to this one: The notorious 1972 giant-killer-bunny movie NIGHT OF THE LEPUS is coming to Blu-ray from Shout! Factory on the Scream Factory line, and complete info has been released.
The disc hits June 19, sporting a new 2K scan from the original film elements, presented in 1.85:1 widescreen. Directed by William F. Claxton and featuring an overqualified cast including Stuart Whitman, Janet Leigh (PSYCHO), Rory Calhoun (MOTEL HELL) and STAR TREK’s DeForest Kelley, it’s about hormone experiments intended to curb the rabbit population of Arizona that instead cause the critters to grow to six-foot human-eating monsters. Special features on the Blu-ray are:
- New audio commentary by author Lee Gambin (MASSACRED BY MOTHER NATURE: EXPLORING THE NATURAL HORROR FILM)
- New audio commentary by pop-culture historian Russell Dyball
- Theatrical trailer
- TV spot
- Radio spot
- Still gallery
Retail price is $29.99, but you can pre-order the Blu-ray from the Shout! website for $23.99 and get it shipped two weeks early.
