Even more “DOCTOR SLEEP” is coming on Director’s Cut Blu-ray and digital

Warner Bros. announced a little while back that Mike Flanagan’s DOCTOR SLEEP would be hitting home formats in a Director’s Cut next year, and now the filmmaker himself has revealed just how much more movie we’re getting.

Flanagan, who wrote and directed DOCTOR SLEEP from Stephen King’s novel, tweeted today that his extended version of the film runs a full three hours (28 minutes longer than the theatrical cut). It’ll be out January 21 on 4K digital streaming and February 4 on Blu-ray (containing both the Director’s Cut and the theatrical version) and in a combo pack with a 4K Ultra HD disc of the theatrical edition. Special features for the discs have yet to be announced; retail prices are $24.99 for the Blu-ray and $29.99 for the 4K pack. DOCTOR SLEEP, starring Ewan McGregor as a grown-up, still shining Danny Torrance, Rebecca Ferguson as villainous psychic vampire Rose the Hat and Kyliegh Curran as gifted young Abra Stone, is, in this writer’s opinion, a topnotch King adaptation and one of the year’s best horror films. See our review of DOCTOR SLEEP here, our interview with producer Trevor Macy here and a chat with actress Alex Essoe (who portrays Wendy Torrance) here.
