Fest-fave chiller “SEA FEVER” docks with a distributor

An excursion into nautical terror that began an acclaimed fest tour with a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival is now on course to hit theaters next year.

Gunpowder & Sky announced that it has picked up U.S. rights to SEA FEVER, from Irish writer/director Neasa Hardiman, for release in early 2020 via its DUST genre label. According to the official synopsis, “SEA FEVER stars Hermione Corfield [RUST CREEK] as Siobhan, a young marine biology student who boards a trawler run by a couple played by Connie Nielsen and Dougray Scott. When the ship hits an unseen object, a mysterious bioluminescent force infiltrates the vessel, and the crew begins a fight for survival while marooned at sea.”

“I’m thrilled Gunpowder & Sky’s DUST will bring SEA FEVER to a U.S. audience,” Hardiman says. “The film is a dreamlike and devastating parable, where a neurodivergent heroine struggles with individual responsibility and threat in our increasingly fragile world.” Stay tuned for release-date details.
