THEY CAME FROM RUE MORGUE BONUS TRACK: “JENNIFER CORVINO” BY APOPTYGMA BERZERK

When we set out to put together THEY CAME FROM RUE MORGUE, we had no idea that we would receive so many enthusiastic responses by bands willing to participate. Our goal, however, was to keep the album at 20 tracks in honour of our 20th anniversary, and so we were forced to cull a few from the final list. But it’s the Halloween season after all, so we’ll be releasing one of these bonus tracks every week this month for your listening pleasure.

We begin this week with very special guest APOPTYGMA BERZERK and their track “JENNIFER CORVINO”. A statement from the band:

“Macabre, surreal films and soundtracks have always been crucial to Apoptygma Berzerk’s musical concepts. From early songs like ‘Deep Red,’ ‘The Sentinel’, and the Twin Peaks homage ‘Moment of Tranquility’ to recent releases like ‘The Devil Pays In Counterfeit Money’, much of Stephan Groth’s music is influenced by filmmakers such as David Lynch, David Cronenberg, and especially John Carpenter. That tradition continues with the unabashedly ’80s horror instrumental ‘Jennifer Corvino’, a tribute to the somnambulant heroine with a fondness for flies from Dario Argento’s 1985 classic ‘Phenomena.’

The track, an all-new composition written exclusively for RUE MORGUE, was created in Fredrikstad, Norway by Stephan Groth and Jonas Groth and appears at the end of the compilation as a BONUS TRACK.
