The upcoming film is rife with practical creatures—and puppets.
Chicago-based Candy House Productions is getting ready to roll on BIG SPOOKY HOUSE, a horror/comedy written and directed by Jerry S. Gonzalez. Ben Bishop (THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS) and Angela Aiello star in a film that “blends slapstick, handcrafted practical effects, and delightfully bizarre puppetry in a love letter to Halloween.” The synopsis: “BIG SPOOKY HOUSE follows Seth O. Spooky [Bishop], a man with a crippling fear of everything, who inherits a haunted mansion filled with creepy portraits, cryptic riddles, and a bunch of unhelpful ghosts whom he must brave in order to overcome a generational curse and prove he would do anything for his Goth girlfriend Luna [Aiello].”
“Seth O. Spooky is a fun character built around the fear of losing a hot Goth girlfriend,” Bishop says. “I’m looking forward to playing a guy completely in over his head, trying his best to survive in this crazy, hilarious world Jerry has built, filled with hijinks and mayhem references that span the breadth of cinema history.”
“As a proudly Mexican-American actor,” says Aiello, “I’m excited to be portraying a Latina character who doesn’t fall into a typical stereotype. She’s strong and confident and not one to be messed with, and also fiercely protective of those she loves.”
“Landing Ben Bishop for Seth O. Spooky is the kind of casting that confirms you’re building the right film,” says John David Wolfe, producer and Candy House co-founder. “Pairing him with Angela’s incredible range gives us a lead duo we couldn’t be more excited to bring to audiences.”
