Creature feature “BAKEMONO” and postapocalyptic “THE SKY HAS FALLEN” coming to Blu-ray; details, art & trailers

Fans of indie chillers heavy on practical and makeup effects, take note.

Unearthed Films will release a pair of features by independent filmmaker Doug Roos this fall. First up on September 22 is BAKEMONO (pictured above), which we previously told you about here and which Roos shot on location in Tokyo. Yukina Takase, Takashi Irie, Vanessa Mertenbacher, Sayuri Nakata, Hiro Senda, Alice Nemoto, Mai Mizusawa and Mone Watanabe star; the synopsis: “A multitude of guests visit the same cheap Tokyo apartment at different times, unaware of the gruesome creature waiting for them.” Special features are:

Arriving October 13 is THE SKY HAS FALLEN, Roos’ 2009 debut feature starring Carey MacLaren, Laurel Kemper, Doug Steward and Cory Knisely. The synopsis: “Within a couple of hours, a new disease wipes out almost all of mankind. Trying to avoid infection, people flee to remote locations, but they start seeing mysterious black figures, carrying away the dead and experimenting on them. Now, Lance [MacLaren] and Rachel [Kemper], two survivors determined to fight back, must kill the leader of these creatures before the rest of humanity disappears.” Bonus features on this one are:
