The new Max Cady is getting a lot more screen time than his predecessors.
The 10-episode series version of CAPE FEAR premieres globally on Apple TV on Friday, June 5 with the first two episodes; new installments will air each successive Friday through July 31. Inspired by the 1991 movie—a remake of the 1962 film, which was based on John D. MacDonald’s novel THE EXECUTIONERS—this CAPE FEAR has Nick Antosca (CHUCKY, HANNIBAL) as showrunner and one of the executive producers; others include Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg (who respectively directed and produced the ’91 film), Javier Bardem and Amy Adams, who star in the new take, and Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum, who directed the pilot. Other cast members are Patrick Wilson (the INSIDIOUS franchise), Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, CCH Pounder, Anna Baryshnikov, Jamie Hector, Margarita Levieva and genre veterans Ron Perlman and Ted Levine. The synopsis: “A storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna [Adams] and Tom Bowden [Wilson] when Max Cady [Bardem], the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison—and he wants vengeance.”
