The independent genre project is currently crowdfunding.

Writer/director Sophie Godin is embarking on the genre feature SHE BLEEDS GREEN, which was inspired by the idea of “a body horror movie where the body horror element isn’t a negative thing to the main character.” (The concept drawings above and below are by artist Mallory Peters.) Godin will also star in the film alongside Jasmin Beatty, Max Legault, Ali Chappell, Zach Dom-Stuart, Clayton Windatt and Debbie Rochon. The synopsis: “Ivy is a young woman who finds herself at a very complicated point in her life: she can barely afford rent, she’s become the fixation of an unhinged serial killer and she’s inexplicably mutating into something scaly, slimy and hungry… SHE BLEEDS GREEN is both an unapologetic creature feature filled with visceral thrills and a personal queer allegory, a story of identity, connection and about how it feels to be a monster.”

“SHE BLEEDS GREEN is my most personal work so far,” says Godin, who plans to begin shooting in May. “It’s equal parts old-fashioned monster movie and a not-so-subtle analogue for my own experiences with identity. I want to make something really special and unique that will hopefully speak to people in a very personal way.”

Godin is currently running an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds, with perks that will directly involve contributors with the production.“It’s important for people who put their money into this to know they’re actually a part of the movie, they aren’t just tossing money at us with nothing to show for it,” Godin says.
