You can’t beat the cast bringing the third take on this psycho-horror story to the screen.
Apple TV will globally debut its 10-episode CAPE FEAR on Friday, June 5 with the first two episodes, followed by new installments each Friday through July 31. The series is said to be inspired by the 1991 feature-film remake of the 1962 original, which was in turn based on John D. MacDonald’s novel THE EXECUTIONERS. Showrunner and writer Nick Antosca (CHUCKY, HANNIBAL) is also an executive producer along with Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg (who respectively directed and produced the ’91 movie), Javier Bardem and Amy Adams, who also star in the new take, and Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum, who directed the pilot. The cast also includes Patrick Wilson (the INSIDIOUS franchise), Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, CCH Pounder, Anna Baryshnikov, Jamie Hector, Margarita Levieva and genre veterans Ron Perlman and Ted Levine. The synopsis: “A storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna [Adams] and Tom Bowden [Wilson] when Max Cady [Bardem], the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison—and he wants vengeance.”
