The man behind a couple of the best Stephen King adaptations is tackling the author’s very first novel.
Deadline reports that Mike Flanagan will direct an eight-episode series based on King’s CARRIE for Amazon, and will also executive-produce with longtime partner Trevor Macy. A writer’s room has just opened up for the latest screen translation of King’s book about a telekinetic high-school outcast and her violent revenge on her tormentors, following Brian De Palma’s classic 1976 feature, a TV movie (intended as the launch of a series that never happened) in 2002 and Kimberly Peirce’s 2013 film. Flanagan previously helmed the movie versions of King’s GERALD’S GAME and DOCTOR SLEEP, and his new THE LIFE OF CHUCK, based on the author’s novella from the IF IT BLEEDS collection, won the Audience Award at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and will see release next year from Neon.
