The found-footage frightfest uncovers the darker side of black metal.

Welcome Villain Films will release INVOKING YELL, which won strong response during its festival play, on digital platforms September 20. Later on, there will be an extras-packed limited-edition Blu-ray from Massacre Video, with details to be announced. Directed by Patricio Valladares (HIDDEN IN THE WOODS) from a script he wrote with Barry Keating, it stars María Jesús Marcone, Macarena Carrere and Andrea Ozuljevich. The synopsis: “Set in 1997 south of Chile, INVOKING YELL is a love letter to black metal that follows a trio of metalhead twenty-something girls who venture into the woods to shoot the demo tape for their black metal band, Invoking Yell. However, things take a sinister turn as they document their disturbing and unorthodox process of recording paranormal phenomena to be used in the album’s final track.”
