The period horror/fantasy from France is coming to the States.
Oscilloscope Laboratories has announced its acquisition of U.S. distribution rights to THE VOURDALAK, which has won strong responses at numerous European festivals, and will open the film exclusively in theaters June 28. Directed by Adrien Beau from a script by Beau and Hadrien Bouvier, based on a novella the predates Bram Stoker’s DRACULA by more than half a century, it stars Kacey Mottet Klein, Ariane Labed, Grégoire Colin, Vassili Schneider, Claire Duburcq and Gabriel Pavie. The synopsis: “When the Marquis d’Urfé [Klein], a noble emissary of the King of France, is attacked and abandoned in the remote countryside, he finds refuge at an eerie, isolated manor. The resident family, reluctant to take him in, exhibits strange behavior as they await the imminent return of their father, Gorcha. But what begins simply as strange quickly devolves into a full-fledged nightmare when Gorcha returns, seemingly no longer himself…”
