It’s the closing movie in its creator’s “Demon Trilogy,” though the horrors here are human.

THE DEVIL’S WORK, written and directed by Ursula Dabrowsky, will have its world premiere as the opening-night film at Sydney, Australia’s A Night of Horror International Film Festival. The screening takes place Thursday, September 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Dendy Cinema, Newtown; more information and tickets can be found here. The follow-up to Dabrowsky’s previous FAMILY DEMONS (2009) and INNER DEMON (2015), the movie stars Cassandra Kane, Luca Sardelis, Mark Fantasia and Kerry Reid. The synopsis: “A young couple’s romantic weekend away at a remote cottage turns into a harrowing fight for their lives when they are terrorized by an unhinged, homicidal sibling.”

THE DEVIL’S WORK is unconnected storywise to the prior films in Dabrowsky’s Demon Trilogy, though the production notes explain, “All share similar themes. They are tales of survival, revenge and the loss of innocence. All three have a vulnerable main character that is female, physically trapped in a space, or figuratively trapped within a psychological space, and is battling with a ‘monster,’ one that is real or a figment of her imagination.”

According to Dabrowsky, “THE DEVIL’S WORK is inspired by films such as BIRDMAN and THE SILENT HOUSE, films that have been made using a production methodology whereby you are shooting in long takes and the idea is to give the illusion that the film has actually been shot in real time. You feel really immersed in the main character’s experience on screen.” The movie was partially financed via crowdfunding, and she adds, “I am thrilled with the support that the film has received with our crowdfunding campaign. We are very aware that there are fans out there who are waiting for my next horror film. I’m very confident we will not disappoint any of them with THE DEVIL’S WORK.”
