The Squatting Skeleton
While on his way home from work on a crisp October night, Irwin Kings found himself possessed of a full-body chill he could not shake. It just so happened a nearby yard was completely aglow with Halloween decorations and pumpkins flickering with candlelight. Overcome by the thought of warming himself beside anything, much less a grinning gourd on fire, Irwin hopped the yard’s small spiked fence but snagged his pant leg on the way down. Hoping to regain his balance, Irwin spun around to lift his leg off the fence, but gravity was not on his side this night. Irwin’s pants tore, sending him flailing backward until he sat down squarely atop a large pumpkin. Before he could enjoy the ridiculousness of his position, Irwin felt a stinging sensation and promptly lit up like a tiki torch, ignited by one of the very candles from which he had sought warmth.
And now, every year, we honor Irwin by recreating his skeletal remains sitting atop a blazing pumpkin – in the most durable of plastics.
