1984 Publishing Brings “Children of the Corn” Soundtrack Slashing Back

This summer, 1984 Publishing is releasing a deluxe gatefold vinyl edition of the CHILDREN OF THE CORN soundtrack. Scarcely available on streaming services, this will be its first time the album has been pressed on wax since the film’s initial 1984 release. The LP, which features stunning foil elements embellishing the cover, will be available in five variants, cassette, and CD editions. The amazing packaging is designed by “Ghoulish” Gary Pullin, the subject/author of Ghoulish: The Art of Gary Pullin, also published by 1984 Publishing. Pullin has also designed the vinyl soundtracks for the films Prom Night (1980) and Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984), plus the double A-side 12-inch for Goblin’s themes for Suspiria and Dawn of the Dead.

CHILDREN OF THE CORN‘s soundtrack includes 17 tracks composed, conducted, and arranged by Jonathan Elias, who worked directly with producer Donald Borchers on both the original film as well as the 2009 television adaptation. Adam Bose at Cauliflower Audio has carefully remastered the soundtrack, while Dave Polster at Well Made Music cut the master lacquer. Gotta Groove Records in Cleveland, Ohio was on hand to produce the five following alternative variants:

“He Who Walks Behind the Rows” / Bright Yellow & Black Splatter (1984 exclusive / 250 copies)
“Outlander Orange” / Transparent Orange & Black Streaks (1984 exclusive / 250 copies)
“Midnight Harvest” / Red & Orange Swirl (wholesale exclusive)

“Bloody Cornfield” / Red & Yellow & Clear Swirl (Light in the Attic exclusive / 500 copies)
“Burning Cornfield” / Clear with Black Smoke (PopMarket exclusive / 100 copies)

The cassette will likewise be available in two shell colors:
“Cornfield Yellow” (wholesale exclusive / 100 copies)
“Blood Red” (1984 exclusive / 100 copies)

The LP and CD packages will also include new liner notes by Rue Morgue‘s own Aaron Lupton (Blood on Black Wax: Horror Soundtracks on Vinyl) and composer Jonathan Elias.

Pre-orders go live at 12PM EST on July 2, 2021 on 1984 Publishing’s website and wholesale orders should be done through URP Music Distribution
