Indie filmmaker Henrique Couto has been planning and crowdfunding follow-ups to his slasher-homage feature BABYSITTER MASSACRE for a little while now, and it’s going so well that there are now three sequels in the works! Read on for the info and an exclusive look at the latest poster.
Originally, Couto sought to find the money for a pair of new movies:
BABYSITTER MASSACRE: SLAY BELLS—“As Christmas break hits Ray Falls, Ohio, more girls are turning up dead. Are they related to the events of Halloween night? Black Christmas and Silent Night, Deadly Night are on the menu in this holiday carnage.”
BABYSITTER MASSACRE: OVERNIGHT—“A camp is thrown into absolute murder and mayhem as a masked killer begins his assault on unsuspecting counselors preparing to take care of kids at a sleepaway camp.”
Now, with the Kickstarter campaign doing better than expected, Couto has decided to add a fourth film to the franchise:
BABYSITTER MASSACRE: HEAVY METAL—“Billy Dragg breaks things off with his girlfriend and subsequently goes on a murder spree…but is he in control, or is the ghost of Viper, a dead heavy metal superstar, influencing Billy’s actions?”
Couto will produce and photograph HEAVY METAL, with Dan Wilder scripting and directing. “As a longtime devotee of both horror and heavy metal, and the intersection of the two,” Wilder says, “I was beyond thrilled to be asked by Henrique to helm the fourth installment in the BABYSITTER MASSACRE franchise as my feature directorial debut! I can’t wait for all hard-rocking horror hounds to see what we have in store for them.”
The Kickstarter campaign, which you can contribute to here, is in its final days (ending this Friday, November 2), and Couto says, “I cannot tell you how much the support of the fans for these sequels has meant to me. I am so thrilled to bring the series to four films, and doing it with my good friend and collaborator Dan Wilder. There’s no one better for the job!”
It will only be good if it has Stephanie Michael.
