While the songs from 1980’s Prom Night have previously made appearances on bootlegs and a notorious Japanese LP, Perseverance Records presents the first official release of the cult classic’s soundtrack. Perseverance worked closely with Carl Zittrer and Paul Zaza, who unearthed the original music recorded for the film as well as unreleased scores and songs. Rue Morgue debuts the opening track from Prom Night: Original 1980 Motion Picture Soundtrack, which you can listen to below.

Prom Night will transport horror fans back to the days of disco. The soundtrack features a recreation of the score as it appears in the film (or as close to it as it could be assembled), along with twelve original disco songs (six of which were written for the film, but not used in the final cut).

Prom Night is scheduled for worldwide release on May 10th, 2019. Visit https://mvdshop.com to pre-order your copy.

Interested in learning more about the classic slasher soundtrack? The upcoming book Blood in Black Wax: Horror Soundtracks on Vinyl contains an interview with Zaza—an excerpt of which will also appear in the upcoming May/June issue of Rue Morgue (#188).
