The talent involved makes this one genre redux worth looking forward to.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michelle Garza Cervera will direct a reimagining of the 1992 nanny-from-hell psychothriller THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE, with Maika Monroe starring, for 20th Century Studios. Micah Bloomberg (SANCTUARY) scripted the update of the Curtis Hanson-helmed hit, which starred Rebecca De Mornay as a woman who has lost both her husband and her baby and infiltrates the home of the married mom (Annabella Sciorra) she holds responsible for those losses. Cervera broke out with HUESERA, which premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival, won major prizes both there and at Mexico’s Ariel Awards and earned more praise upon its 2023 release under the title HUESERA: THE BONE WOMAN. Monroe is currently riding high on the success of Osgood Perkins’ LONGLEGS, the latest in her string of quality genre roles that has also included IT FOLLOWS, THE GUEST and WATCHER, with a reprise of her haunted role in THEY FOLLOW also coming up. Ted Field, an executive producer of the original CRADLE (who was previously involved with an ABC Family remake that didn’t see fruition), encores here as a producer, joined by Michael Schaefer and Mike Larocca.
