Rue Morgue Radio
In anticipation of their appearance in Toronto to screen their critically acclaimed feature American Mary, Jen & Sylvia Soska will return to The Rue Morgue Podcast – but this time, they’re gonna take questions from the fans.
Drop by the Anchor Bay Canada Facebook page to pose a question for the twins:
The deadline for questions is Tuesday, May 28th at 11 PM EST.
Select entries will be included on their upcoming appearance on The Rue Morgue Podcast.
American Mary will screen across Canada on Thurs, May 30th at participating Cineplex theatres as part of Raven Banner’s Sinister Cinema series.
It hits DVD and Blu-ray on June 18th through Anchor Bay Canada.
Rue Morgue Radio has crawled from the grave for a special, one-off, 2 HR Halloween Smackdown!
Starring GEORGE A. ROMERO, The Blood Spattered Guide, Shannon, The Caustic Critics and of course, everyone’s favorite purple demon DJ – the inimitable TOMB DRAGOMIR!
Happy Halloween from everyone at Rue Morgue!
I’m delighted to be a guest on Dr. Gangrene’s METAL MORGUE segment from the 6 FT PLUS Podcast.
This was a treat because Dr. Gangrene was a long-time listener of Rue Morgue Radio. We’ve been in touch frequently over the years via email so it was a lot of fun to pollute the cyberwaves with him for 20 minutes or so (the interview is about half way through the show for those playing along at home).
p.s. Check out Dr. Gangrene’s TALES FROM THE LAB blog here: http://drgangrene.blogspot.ca
On this installment, Last Chance Lance and I read some of the listener’s favourite Caustic Critics moments over the show’s seven year history.
The idea was to go out with an insanely entertaining, epic extravaganza that would prove to be a fitting finale for the Caustic Critics’ long and dubious history. But then Lance kicked off with his impressions again….
It’s the first of a special two-part episode of POST APOCALYPSE. On this installment, Last Chance Lance (sans squirrel) returns to the podcast in spectacular fashion to read some of the comments and emails we received in response to the demise of Rue Morgue Radio.
On the upcoming episode, we’ll reveal the winners of the final Rue Morgue Radio contest wherein we asked the listeners to list their favourite Caustic Critics segment.
These are epic.
Well my friends and fiends, after more than seven years of disseminating Horror Rot ‘n’ Roll and Caustic Film Criticism over the cyberwaves, it’s time to bid farewell to RUE MORGUE RADIO.
But have no fear, we did not go gently into that good night. We raged, raged against the dying of the light with this: a two hour, double whammy FINAL TRANSMISSION!
MACHETE MAIDENS UNLEASHED! is finally out on DVD in North America – and I’m delighted to report that one of the special features is my complete interview with director Mark Hartley which played in excerpts on Rue Morgue Radio and the Rue Morgue Podcast and was featured in the pages of Rue Morgue Magazine.
More info here:
In 2009, he dropped by the Rue Morgue Studio of Rape and Revenge for a really fun interview with director Lee Demarbre to promote their movie SMASH CUT (Easily one of my most favourite RUE MORGUE RADIO adventures to date). He was so vibrant, energetic and possessed such a deceptive, youthful appearance that I never stopped to ponder his age.
After the interview, I talked more with David about his work as an actor and was quite engaged by his colorful anecdotes, his insights into the world of acting and his larger than life, eccentric personality. We made tentative plans to do a more extensive interrogation on his film and music career at a later date but alas, it’ll have to wait until the afterlife (if I’m lucky enough to get sent to wherever they send guys like David Hess!)
So while I’m sad to say I didn’t get a chance to learn MORE about the man, I feel fortunate I got to learn as much as I did.
R.I.P. DAVID ALEXANDER HESS (1942-2011).
p.s. Check back soon because I’m going to make the full interview with David and Lee available here on the Rue Morgue Blog in the coming week.
Have you seen the newest episode of Tomb TV yet? Rue Morgue Radio’s cavern-throated host, Tomb Dragomir, has recently started posting moving picture shows of his continuous exploits in the wild world of horror journalism. Part really odd video blog, part music video, part living cartoon – this third installment includes an interview with Troma head honcho Lloyd Kaufman, some words of wisdom from John Waters and more than a glimpse into Tomb’s tireless obsession for video and music editing hijinx.
The second volume of Rue Morgue Radio’s free downloadable compilation of horror music, Hymns From the House of Horror Vol. II, has been unleashed! Download your own copy, complete with printable artwork, by clicking here.
It’s 20 songs by 20 bands, including sneak peeks, killer cuts, previously unreleased oddities and exclusive remixes by the likes of GWAR, Blood Ceremony, Calabrese, Timber Timbre, The Brains, Kreeps, The Young Werewolves, The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, Corpusse, and more!
Don’t forget to read the whole story on the bands and songs of Hymns Vol. II in the May issue of RM #111 (cover: John Waters). And don’t drag your feet – Hymns II will only be available for download for a limited time. Just like last year’s comp, once it’s gone….it’s gone forever!
