Rue Morgue Radio
Like many fans of their feminist rape revenge indie American Mary, I was a bit blindsided by news that the next movie coming from the Soska Sisters was a sequel to the 2006 WWE Studios produced slasher flick starring champion wrestler Glenn Jacobs, a.k.a. Kane.
And given how quickly it rolled before cameras (the entire film was shot in just 15 days in October), I assumed it was more or less a ‘director for hire’ paycheque type gig for the filmmakers. Or who knows? Maybe they were actually long time wrestling fans and this was one of their dream projects?
Either way, I had to find out. So I reached out to the Twisted Twins with just one question:
RUE MORGUE PODCAST: See No Evil 2? What the fuck?!!!
On November the 9th & 10th, IMATS invaded the Toronto Metro Convention Centre. Stuart Feedback Andrews, host of The Rue Morgue Podcast, was on hand with his trusty Canon Powershot to amass a ton of photographic evidence.
So for your voyeuristic delight, here’s some of the juiciest highlights of the weekend.
On this final episode, Jen and Sylvia Soska wax poetic about their upcoming episode from The ABC’s of Death 2, the virtues of their Vancouver crew and if money was no object, what their dream projects would look like.
Plus! The delightfully Twisted Twins pontificate on such family-friendly classics as Men Behind The Sun, Cannibal Holocaust, Martyrs, Inside and A Serbian Film.
Nothing Left To Fear is available on DVD and Blu-ray via Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada.
In part one of this video edition of the Rue Morgue Podcast, guitar genius Slash discusses his lifelong love of horror movies and gives us the scoop on Nothing Left To Fear, the first flick from his production company, Slasher Films.
Nothing Left To Fear will screen on Sept 19th across Canada for one night only as part of Sinister Cinema’s monthly horror film series. Slash and director Anthony Leonardi III will be in attendance at the Yonge Dundas Cineplex for a Q&A following the film.
Nothing Left To Fear hits DVD and Blu-ray on Oct. 8th via Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada.
If you missed Joe Dante’s Q&A from the 2013 Festival of Fear, the good news is we recorded it. The bad news is, the audio’s a bit wonky.
It’s just on the wrong side of being acceptable enough for the Rue Morgue Podcast but it’s still very listenable. So I’m uploading it anyway because it’s Joe Dante and he’s awesome and it’s a great interview!
Moderated by Rue Morgue’s Dave Alexander, Joe discusses upon all sorts of juicy bits and bobs, from his early fascination with Saturday afternoon matinees and Famous Monsters of Filmland to working with the likes of Roger Corman, Rob Bottin and Bruce Dern to making movies like Piranha, The Howling, The Twilight Zone, The ‘Burbs, Amazon Women on the Moon, The Hole and of course, Gremlins.
Actual studio exec dialogue as revealed by Mr. Dante in this Q&A:
Exec: These GREMLINS are so disgusting. They blow their nose on the curtains. And do we need to have so many of them?
Spielberg: Well, we could cut them all out and call the movie, PEOPLE!
