.......I'll reserve judgment until I read the piece, but if Liisa wrote the piece, I'm looking forward to reading it, regardless of whether or not I agree with it. The issue will probably be here in Pictou tomorrow, if others in the East already have theirs.

I got mine today. The envelope was almost completely open, and the cover has a little rip. Nothing to freak out over, but it's weird that a magazine that is protected by an envelope got damaged while the 500 thousand catalogs that my wife gets are always in perfect shape.

Kudos to whatever the RM folks are doing with mailing lately but the past three issues have hit me in the first week of the month when I usually had to wait until the third week of the month to receive it.
This is the first time I've gotten it before the beginning of the month and it' a great issue.

Same here. They have a new mailing house doing the job though, obviously most of the flaws have been corrected. I'm glad I renewed my subscription! And at only 60 bucks per year if you subscribe online!

Just got my issue yesterday and loved it! Gore-Met, awesome write up as usual! John Bowen, I'm actually embarrassed to say this, but this month is the first time I've read your basement article and fucking loved it! Great stuff man! I'm going to have to go through my back issues and read them all. Liiisa I really enjoyed your write up on Thriller...even though it's Michael Jackson. Cover story was amazing as well. And Clive Barker galore! LOVE IT! Best issue in a long time! Thanks for all your hard work Rue Morgue!

...good issue, OK bits and pieces, and now: Liisa, I'm going to have to agree to disagree about Thriller. Yes, it has good bits, good cameos, and Price's wonderful voice, and yes, it has an overall feel of fun, but a classic it just simply is not. Despite Landis (who is, in my opinion, an arrogant dick with a lot of directing talent), it has one thing weighing it down beyond redemption.
...it's a music video of a crappy Wacko Jacko "song" that can drive even the most forgiving fan up the fracking wall. No amount of fan star cameos or fine technical talent can fix that.
...so, we each have our opinion. I officially walk away from it with my head held high...

Glad to hear that you guys are receiving your issues promptly. The last two months were a joy, but its the 8th of the month, and still no joy for me.
Anybody else still waiting?

Can I just say, and this I must admit is while I am yet to get this issue (not a subscriber, I get it locally in Australia), that the standard of RM has been really high of late, and I am loving every issue like a first child!!

Wonderful issue indeed. Pumpkinhead is possibly my favorite monster. I have a good-sized figurine of him and have always been in love with the hands and feet as sculptural masterpieces. Really inspiring for my own art. The interview with Lance was great. Reading about everyone's stories with Stan made me tear up a bit.
He really was a pioneer.

Once again, great issue. Loved the Pumpkinhead stories and the articles on MMT and the future Books of Blood movies. Nice to hear those are still being filmed.
What can I say? Great job again this month. You're really setting some high standards.

I thoroughly enjoyed Bowen's article on Mother's Day. I wish someone other than Troma would release an uber edition of this unappreciated exploitation classic.

I got the issue on Saturday. Really good as always. I liked the interview with Lance Henricksen by John W. Bowen.
I did notice an error on page 21 though. There's a picture in the bottom right of the page ("The Monster Squad") with five guys in it, but six names are listed. I recognize Stan Winston and Tom Woodruff, Jr as Pumpkinhead.
The people listed in the picture are Richard Landon, John Rosengrant, producer Richard C. Weinman, Tom Woodruff, Jr (as Pumpkinhead), Stan Winston and Alec Gillis. Did someone get cropped out?

I was wondering that too!
I just decided that maybe Pumpkinhead ate the other guy.

I bought a copy from the cinema store in london, cos mine won't be here for awhile now. (how's this for dedication, i've been getting an extra copy since issue #76, so i'm not too far behind everyone! )
Great issue this month, the pumpkinhead, the midnight meat train, and the 'pigeons' pieces were very good and very enthrawling, BUUUT...
My favourite pice this month has to be Mr John .w. Bowen's review of the 'TATTOOIST'. It even tops Dave Alexander's 'I am legend' and even Chris 'floats like a butterfly, stings like when feedback pees' alexander's 'feardotcom' review as one of the funniest ones i've read.
For starters, he starts (and i appologise for anyone who hasn't read it yet, But he starts AND ends the review with taking a swipe at- as he calls her- 'the slavic succubus' Jovanka 'big red' Vuckovic! I almost cried with laughter when i read this!
The review itself is a great one. The film does sound like a stinker, but its the beginning and the end of the review, that i find so great.
You know that Jovanka has a great sense of humour, so she'll take it in jest. But, i fear for Mr Bowen now. He thought he was taking one for the team before? Oh man, i can only wonder what diabolical ideas are going through JV'S head!

I pity Bowen's DVD player for the slew of flicks that are about to come its way...
I buzzed through this issue more quickly than I meant to. Usually I can make an issue last for weeks, sifting through it and reading a little at a time. Maybe it's because I'm still waiting for #80, so my Rue Morgue withdrawl kicked in. Overall, it was a decent issue.

Actually, my current DVD player is a cast-off from Monica Kuebler. Although otherwise fully functional, it has a frequently malfunctioning drawer and apparently her husband was ready to take a chainsaw to it and flush the pieces down the toilet, so maybe it's cursed already.

No more diabolical than usual. I'll just buy her some brie - that usually works. Glad you dug the review. Being placed in the rarified slag company of Dave's douchefest is high praise indeed. And as much as I admire the late great C.A., didn't he actually like fear.com? Are you perhaps thinking of something else he wrote? Darkness Falls, maybe?

I've been reading my issue for the past couple days. As a fan of both PUMPKINHEAD and Lance Henricksen, I really enjoyed the PH articles. Great stuff so far.

While at one time I enjoyed the Thriller song and video I can't listen to another Jackson song again after what this guy has been accused of in his personal life over the last 14 years. Having said that I thought the piece on it was really good.
Interesting that HorrorHound Magazine has this on the cover of their next issue. They do have a good relationship with John Landis so it will probably cover more of the behind the scenes and less with wacko jacko.

You're not alone. It's the 18th and I STILL haven't received my issue. In fact, my July issue came towards the end of the month.
In the past, I always got 'em during the first few days of the month.

Shredi Knight -
This is Festival of Fear week so things are nuts around here, which may account for slightly slower than usual response times from Audra and Jessa (they handle a lot of the festival set-up) concerning order issues.
That said, please make sure you direct your emails to jessa@rue-morgue.com as she'll be handling all subscriber issues from here on out.
