Hmmm. I wonder if the JK Potter article will include a photo of the guy. I was mistaken for him at an sf convention outside New Orleans some 20 1/2 years ago ...

I was hoping for the Naschy--in fact I think I posted Naschy in the "what do you want to see.." thread.
I love this magazine.

I kinda hoped there was gonna be a Paul Naschy tribute at some point! My husband's become a big fan of his work, so he'd love this! Just recently he got a DVD copy of Hunchback of the Morgue.

I really hope everyone enjoys the cover story as this was a real labour of love by all involved. Here's how something like this comes together:
When Naschy passed I immediately got in touch with Dave about a tribute. I've flown Naschy's banner since the second issue of RM I contributed to and wanted to at least do something in my column. Dave told me to hold on while he secured the unpublished interview Shade Rupe did at a screening of The Mummy's Revenge.
Dave came back and offered me the lead-in to that, but I immediately suggested Mirek as the best choice (fuck ego). I got in touch with him and when he agreed to participate everything promptly fell into place.
I did the essential Naschy filmography and the interview with Angel Agudo, which Mirek orchestrated. Angel is an absolute class act, he and Mirek have my eternal gratitude at least for agreeing to participate on relatively short notice. I sent the interview in to Dave in Q&A format as per his previous decision, but he re-worked it into the embedded quote style which he subsequently sent back me to get my approval. Again, no ego in the chain here.
Meanwhile, I did what I could to help Gary with the cover illustration by sending him screen captures and and suggesting films to check out for some classic Naschy imagery. I also scanned and e-mailed him most of the DVD cover art used for my bit.
If this is the kind of teamwork Dave was talking about in his RMR interview, then I'm happy to be a part of it.

Mine was waiting when I got in the door tonight.
I've only given it the cursory once-over so far, but I'm digging what I've seen. Looking forward to a more thorough read on my morning commute.
And suffice to say, Gary, that cover is a joy to behold up-close and personal. Great job!

I couldn't put this one down and read it from cover to cover. I don't think I have ever seen one of Naschy's films which is something I will have to put right in the near future.
Whilst being an admirer of J.K. Potter's work for years I had never read anything about the artist behind them and his process, fascinating. I have found an official site for him here
