Gary my man! You've outdone yourself!
That cover is magnificent!
Also just watched Header over the weekend. PERFECT stuff for The Gore-met. I can't wait to read that one.
Also I'm sure the Harryhausen article will be pretty cool too. I might have to break out the Harryhousen set to get ready for the issue!
Good job folks!

Oh Yea!!!! Can't wait to read your story on Ray Harryhausen. I've been a fan as long as I can remember, having thrilled to the Hydra, the Cyclops and all those wonderful skeletons for decades.
And the cover art is magnificent! Hope it becomes available as a poster some day.
Glad to see you covering Dead Snow. I've seen the trailer and hope it makes it to a local theater here in Portland. Who can resist zombie Nazis?
All that and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken? Wow, I haven't thought about that film since I was a kid. The Basement is serving up a tasty nostalgic treat this month.
June 1st can't come soon enough.

Looks like another solid issue.
And this is worth repeating - Gary's cover is truly beautiful. The colours are a brighter palette than I'm used to with RM, which may be partly why I love it as much as I do.
That, and The Cyclops, which makes me giggle with glee like a schoolkid .
I'll be watching my mailbox...

I was just thinking about the sneak peek today! Perfect timing, needed ma' fix.
I am definitely on board with everyone else... the cover is AMAZING! FANTASTIC! BOOMBASTIC! ELASTIC! Ok, maybe not elastic...I got carried away with "stic"-words.

I'll second the hope of seeing the cover as a poster!
I've been a Harryhausen fan since I was a kid watching his movies on Saturday afternoons. My favorites are the hydra and the skeletons from Jason & the Argonauts, but I really love all of Harryhausen's creatures.
Can't wait to get this one.

Oh, my GOD that cover is simply brilliant! The colors in the background are such a perfect contrast. I am blown away. Possibly best cover EVER? Nice tentacles!
It looks like an awful lot of work went into this issue, inside and out. Cannot wait.

Thanks for all the comment's guys, much appreciated! I did a lot of research on past sci-fi and horror magazines that had featured Harryhausen on their covers (FM - both incarnations features the cyclops, Cinefantastic, Cinefex, Castle of Frankenstein - which did three issues in a row!) so I did my best to create one that could hang with those past tributes.
I should also say, I really think this is one of our best issues to date so I hope you dig it!

As it happens, I immediately flashed on those CoF covers when I saw yours just now. (The middle issue of that 3-ish run -- #20 -- marked my initial exposure to that mag way back in ... longer ago than I want to think. '73? The first issue of Atlas Seaboard's Movie Monsters from '74 comes to mind as well.) Great job!

I just received my issue. I really think it's the best issue I've seen yet, can't wait to start reading it, probably tonight. From Harryhausen to Ghostbusters to House on Haunted Hill (58) to The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (!!!) -- OMG! FANTASTIC! And all capped off by possibly the best cover yet!

...got mine today. Spectacular....um....except for one thing that kind of leapt off the page at me.
....during the Harryhausen chat, you mentioned that one of the sketches of monsters past was of the Kraken....uh, yeah...that's the Ymir busting up Rome, not the "no c in my name" Kraken.
...apart from that little hiccup, this issue is worth every penny. Woo!

Got mine in the mail today, and she's a beauty.
Gonna read it a little more in-depth at work tomorrow, but the glimpses I've had of the Harryhausen piece filled me with childish glee. Can't wait to dive in.
And that cover. Up close and in hand, it's a masterpiece.

Glad you dig it!! That's what I meant when I said I think it's one of our strongest issues to date. Editorially and visually. All three of the main features could have been great cover stories.

Picked it up just a little while ago and have been enjoyin' it immensely. I've got a copy of Dead Snow from a pal I was sittin' on, but thanks to the article I'm gonna view it posthaste!
Also, I'm sad I don't have a video game system, 'cause that Ghostbusters game sounds awesome!

Just wanted to express my huge appreciation for reuniting me with The Hilarious House of Frightenstein. I'd had characters from the show swimming around my subconscious for years, not really knowing what these clouded images were that I seemed to remember. Needless to say I've joined the forums on the website, and I feel like I've closed the loop on my odd personality.
R.I.P. Billy Van, and thanks again!

We're all big fans of the Van here at RM. Most of us here watched the show as kids. If you haven't seen it, check out issue 62 for our HHOF cover story. http://www.rue-morgue.com/mag_62.php

The cover makes me think its the type of issue that someones nephew or daughter picks up while the adults are off talking, and the horror seed becomes planted. I likely feel this way because I found my uncle's Famous Monsters as a kid and that was that.
