Holy Crap, November already? Shit man, I'm not even half-way through the Halloween special yet.
Aaaaannnnd, I knew the Let the Right One In piece would be written by Mitch Davis, there's no one around who loves talking about that film more than him!

I'm especially looking forward to the "Classic Cut" on the old Dell Abyss line. I've managed to amass all but a couple of those. (I think they first came to my attention when a co-worker of mine at the newspaper back in Little Rock, Ron Wolfe, coauthored one of 'em, Death's Door.)

Totally awesome. I have a 3-D (anaglyph) version of this film on DVD-R and it still holds up well with a minimum of cheese. Love the performances, score, and the 3-D freakouts.

...first, love that cover( it looks like the being is waiting for you to invite it out of the magazine...), and second....Damn. It feels like I'm still trying to digest that Hallowe'en issue, and the cooks are putting a huge dessert in front of my face. Groan...that November issue will probably wait until the second week or so. That Hallowe'en monster is still digesting...

Since I've moved, my issue comes on the 2nd or 3rd week of the month, so I'm not too worried.

In the words of a broken heart it's just emoticons taking him over, caught up in sorrow, etc.

I can't wait to read this! LTROI was one of the best movies I've seen in a long while...
Still waiting for last month's issue though, so I'm not hopeful I'll see this one anytime soon... at least I'll have a bunch of reading to do over the Christmas break...

I saw Let the Right One In on the weekend. It’s a quality movie that’s moody and atmospheric in ways that has been missing in North American Horror cinema for a llllloooooooonnnnnggggg time. It seems to me that most Horror today has been polluted by flashy camera work, smash cutting and over aggressive sound design.
P.S. I think you should do a cover story on Cannibal Girls, if you haven’t already written about this flick. It’s a classic of Canadian exploitation cinema and it would be interesting to get interviews with Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin and most especially Ivan Reitman considering his involvement with Shivers. If you do may I suggest using the VHS box art as the basis for the cover because I think it’s badass.

My old family home was near one of the locations that was shot in. An old motel now long rebuilt(looks completely different:( ) , I used to get chills seeing the exterior after I first saw the movie on CityTV late one night.

Hoping mine is in the comic shop this week. Interested in reading about LTROI, as it should be coming to Portland in the next week or so. Also interested in hearing your take on Monsterpocalypse, as I've just bought the initial pack but haven't had time to play.

I received mine today (still no sign of the double issue though!).
Canada Post was not kind. The envelope is shredded, the cover is scuffed, barely hanging on, and has rips and chunks missing from it. The actual flap of the envelope wasn't sealed, so I'm wondering if it caught on something because of that.
I'm glad to have it finally, but at his rate I won't be renewing in the spring - I'll just make a trip to Suspect or the House of Horrors every month, or buy them at the Cinemacabre.

I got mine a few days ago and am almost finished with it.
I just hope that 2008 was the "Year of the Vampire" and it's not going to last from now until November 2009. If Twilight is a hit then I guess the Rue Crew will have to weather lots of reviews for more teeny-bopper teen angsty vampire fluff flicks.
All those pretty, impossibly flawless faces in that article are very off putting to me. Looks to be all image and no substance. A CW-type film.
I don't know who John Bowen was talking about when he mentioned a guy from Ottawa. It must be your Prime Minister and I guess Ottawa is Canada's Washington D.C. I don't know much about Canada since we aren't at war with them or anything here so please forgive my ignorance. They never mention the Prime Minister of Canada here so I don't know what happened with your election there.

Great picture of Forry holding up the mag! A priceless photo.

...still no sign of mine. Velvet Kiss's report does not make me happy, since I'm way out here in Pictou, N.S., and the Posties are quite schizophrenic in how they handle RM material...sometimes, they are very nice...and sometimes, they fucking aren't.
