Feedback

As one half of the Caustic Critics, Stuart Feedback Andrews has been contributing interviews and reviews to Rue Morgue Radio since March, 2005. He’s also the host of Cinephobia Radio, a movie-themed podcast that features prolonged interrogations of well-known film personalities. Beyond that, Feedback is also very funny, dashingly handsome and absolutely fantastic in bed! And he’s a big fan of writing about himself in the third person, present tense.

RUE MORGUE PODCAST – ROBIN HARDY

On this episode of the Rue Morgue Podcast, I’m delighted to welcome Robin Hardy, director of one of the greatest horror movies ever made: the 1973 British cult classic The Wickerman starring the legendary Christopher Lee.

Nearly 40 years later, Mr. Hardy returns with his long-anticipated follow-up entitled The Wicker Tree starring Graham McTavish (Rambo) and talented newcomer Brittania Nicol. The film saw a limited theatrical run in the U.S. on January 27th and is scheduled to hit home video on April 24th courtesy of Anchor Bay Entertainment.

In this interview, we find out all sorts of juicy bits and bobs, including what inspired Hardy to return to the land of the Scottish pagans, the importance of music to both films, what he thinks of The Wickerman Remake and why Christopher Lee considers the original Wickerman to be his finest role.

RUE MORGUE PODCAST – MARTIN

Alright, it’s the 50th episode of the RUE MORGUE PODCAST!

It’s true. Where has the time gone?

So how do we mark this momentous occasion? I know. How about an interview with the sickest bastard of all time?

Yes, we’ve scoured the world for the worst, evilest, baddest asses of all. We’ve been through prisons, through institutes for the criminally insane, through gambling dens in Macao but finally… we found him!

So ladies and gentlemen, for your slooshying agony…

Martin.

RUE MORGUE PODCAST – TOM SIX

On this episode of the Rue Morgue Podcast, it’s my great pleasure to chat with Mr. Tom Six, director of one of my all time favourite family fun, cuddly horror films, The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence.).

It’s coming out on DVD and Blu-ray on Feb 14th through IFC Midnight but apparently, you can watch the UNCUT version on the Sundance Now chonebook page HERE.

RUE MORGUE RADIO: FINAL TRANSMISSION

Well my friends and fiends, after more than seven years of disseminating Horror Rot ‘n’ Roll and Caustic Film Criticism over the cyberwaves, it’s time to bid farewell to RUE MORGUE RADIO.

But have no fear, we did not go gently into that good night. We raged, raged against the dying of the light with this: a two hour, double whammy FINAL TRANSMISSION!

RUE MORGUE PODCAST – SLASH

That’s right. SLASH!

Not only is he a Rock ‘n’ Roll God but he’s a horror movie maniac and he’s just started his own production company, not surprisingly entitled SLASHER FILMS.

He teamed up with producers Rob Eric and Michael Williams (Session 9) and they’re about to go into production on their first feature Nothing To Fear. It’s set in the town of Stull, Kansas which, apparently, is one of the seven gateways to Hell.

So here it is, ladies and germs. For your slooshying pleasure, the first ever interview anyone has ever done with the guitar genius Slash about his brand new horror movie enterprise!

RUE MORGUE PODCAST – DAVID HESS (1942-2011)

It’s the first Rue Morgue Podcast of 2012 but before we plunder forth into yonder year, let’s take a moment to reflect upon the one we just put to bed. We lost a lot of great genre icons in 2011, not the least of whom was the one and only David Hess, best known for his role as the sociopathic Krug Stillo from Wes Craven’s Last House on the Left (1972).

In 2009, he dropped by the Rue Morgue Studio of Rape and Revenge for a great little interview with director Lee Demarbre to promote their movie Smash Cut.

ROSALIND LEIGH PRODUCTION DIARIES – EPISODE NINE

On this installment of the Production Diaries for THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ROSALIND LEIGH, we continue to sing the praises of the unsung heroes of the film crew.

Meet Chris Rowles, genny op extraordinare. David Dollard, location manager and rabid horror fan. And last and possibly least, Rue Morgue’s own Tal Zimerman whose spectacular ascendency in the film biz began with lead actor in Rue Morgue’s first short film and quickly rose to the coveted position of catering attendant on the next one.

These guys are as instrumental to the movie as anyone else, the invisible hands that make light work. Appreciate.

RUE MORGUE PODCAST – CHILLERAMA

2011 is winding down in grand style on the Rue Morgue Podcast with one of our finest interviews to date, a first rate tête-à-tête with director Tim Sullivan, one of the filmmakers responsible for the bodily fluids-drenched, drive-in horror movie anthology, Chillerama.

Sullivan’s outrageously flamboyant, adolescent-angst parody I Was A Teenage Werebear demonstrates that retro-movie homages don’t always have to look backwards, they can look forwards too.

THE VANISHING VS. THE VANISHING

I subjected myself to a very strange cine-masochistic exercise yesterday. I viddied George Sluizer’s haunting masterpiece THE VANISHING (1988) then immediately followed it with the director’s own 1993 Hollywood REMAKE.

RUE MORGUE PODCAST – ANTIVIRAL SET VISIT

Now playing on the Rue Morgue Podcast, a special Les Nessman style report LIVE from the set of ANTIVIRAL – the feature film debut of Brandon Cronenberg, son of legendary filmmaker David Cronenberg.

ANTIVIRAL perfectly illustrates that the rotting apple has not fallen far from the decaying tree because this film is unquestionably Cronenbergian. It’s about a celebrity obsessed kid who injects himself with the infected blood of his favourite fame-whores in order to feel closer to their disease. It’s the TMZ on DMT.

The star of the film is a young actor named Calab Landry Jones who inhibits this sickly character so convincingly that even though I was only on set for a few relatively mundane shots, this kid has a quality where you can’t take your eyes off him for a moment. Also, the film is being shot by the mad genius of horror cinematographers, Mr. Karim Hussain, director of Subconscious Cruelty and the director of photography for Hobo With A Shotgun (Karim was featured on a previous episode of the podcast HERE). But if you’re familiar with Karim’s body of work, it seems like a perfect marriage of disturbed sensiblitlies to see him hook up with one of the Cronenberg clan.

Anyway, I managed to grab just a few minutes with the fellas immediately after lunch and before they had to return to set but I’m very curious to see how this plays out and I assure you I will be following this one VERY closely on the Rue Morgue podcast.

This week on the podcast, it’s our Q&A with Count Lyle Blackburn, Rue Morgue’s resident cryptozoologist and the lead singer of Texas Hellbilly Band Ghoultown.

On this episode, Lyle gets into all sorts of juicy Big Foot related anecdotes, including the origins of everyone’s favourite furball, some wild eyewitness reports of the creature and Lyle’s own adventures as a bonafide monster hunter.

The Q&A was recorded at the 2011 Festival of Fear and was hosted by Rue Morgue’s Editor-In-Chief, Dave Alexander.

And don’t forget to check out Lyle’s cryptozoology-themed column Monstro Bizarro right here on the Rue Morgue Blog.

POST APOCALYPSE – TAGLINE HOLOCAUST

This week on the Rue Morgue Podcast, it’s the results of our FAST CUSTOM SHIRTS Tagline Contest.

Also, the ten winners will each receive a horror t-shirt from our friends over at FAST CUSTOM SHIRTS.

Plus – the grand prize winner will also receive:

A prize pack from artist CHAD SAVAGE, including an art print of the winner’s choice from his website, a set of blank Halloween greeting cards (5 in the set) and the last remaining Jack of 1000 Faces Original Run t-shirt (an XL.) Plus – whatever weird little things he might decide to throw in the box.

AND! We have a signed Rue Morgue Radio poster, a DVD copy of Eric Stanze’s RATLINE (starring Emily Haack and Jason Christ) and a couple of boxes of THING MINTS too.

This show is epic. It’s frightening. It’s not for the squeamish and it’s DEFINITELY not safe for work….

Be warned.

RUE MORGUE PODCAST – LANCE HENRIKSEN

This week on the Rue Morgue Podcast, it’s our Q&A with legendary actor Lance Henriksen. The Q&A was conducted by Rue Morgue’s Managing Editor Monica S. Kuebler at the 2011 Festival of Fear.

We were lucky to have Lance up here two years in a row and one thing’s for sure, the 2012 Festival of Fear won’t be the same without him. We’ve been spoilt! Maybe I’ll team up with the Back to Frank Black guys and get a petition going to get him back next year!

You can get copies of Lance’s autobiography Not Bad For A Human HERE.

And special thanks to the Rue Morgue Podcast’s intrepid reporter Andrea Subissati for recording the Q&A.

Enjoy!
