Now that the Dallas dust has settled and the sound of chainsaws are are all but a distant buzz, I’d like to announce the winners of our Rue Morgue Cover contest we held at this year’s Texas Frightmare Weekend. Entries were coming faster than you can say “Dog will hunt!” all weekend and I was astounded by the amount of creativity and the diversity in design on display. I will say it was tough to pick three, so I’m including some honourable mentions that warmed the cockles of our cold, dead hearts.

Here’s the new video by The Creepshow for the track “Hellbound”. Yes, that is a Rue Morgue t-shirt you see on keyboardist Ginty and no, we didn’t have to slip him a shot of Jager to wear it. Recorded and edited by Toronto photographer Ashlea Wessel, the video captures the band’s explosive live show (recently winning Edge 102′s FU award for “best live act”). The Creepshow are currently playing some shows through Europe in support of “They All Fall Down”, distributed on Stomp Records in Canada and HellCat Records in the US.

Artist Aunia Kahn held an online open call to artists everywhere last year for the Lowbrow Taro Art Show. Only 23 artist would be selected to represent the 22 cards in a Major Arcana tarot deck (plus the card back). The exhibit starts tonight, October 1st and closes on Halloween. If you’re in the L.A. area, the show opens at the La Luz de Jesus gallery and I highly recommend checking it out. The gallery and store itself is a must see. Luckily for those of us who can’t attend, here are is a link to the online gallery. There are some truly fantastic selections by Chet Zar (The Devil), Chris Mars (The Hierophant), Kris Kuksi (The Emperor), Laurie Lipton (Death), Christopher Ulrich (The Magician) and many others. The artists creations will also appear in a forthcoming hard cover coffee table book and of course the project wouldn’t be complete until an actual tarot deck, also in production.
