Radio Activity

As a footnote to Dave’s post below with director Oren Peli, here’s a little radio interview I do every year with my friends at 1031 Fresh FM in London, Ontario. Every halloween I’m asked to pick my favourite films of the year and Paranormal Activity is at the top of the heap. Click the link [...]

Sinister Seven: Paranormal Activity Director Oren Peli

This past weekend, Paranormal Activity, a $15 000 shot-on-video feature about a couple recording evidence of a supernatural entity in their new house, ruled the box office, beating the annual Halloween cash cow installment in the Saw franchise. A slow roll-out that had fans requesting limited midnight screenings in North American cities gave the movie [...]

My Fair Leatherface

Ever wonder what mash-ups of classic Broadway plays and popular horror films would result in? Probably not… but I did, and wrote about it for The Toronto Star. The piece was published yesterday as a sidebar to an article on The Toxic Avenger play.
Read about the Toxic Avenger musical here.

See Some Samaritan Saw Swag

Say that three times in a row…

Above is a signed Saw VI poster (yes, that includes Tobin Bell), which is part of an online charity auction taking place right now and running until Friday. There are actually six poster/swag prize packs up for bidding, with the proceeds going to The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. [...]

Smash Cut, Running Zombies and Extreme Ukiyo-e

Lee will be here, along with writer Ian Driscoll and star David Hess. More [...]

Lemmy At It

Severin films did a cool video promo for the release of the special edition of Richard Stanley’s Hardware (we did a feature on it in the Rue Morgue Halloween issue), featuring Lemmy reprising his cameo role as the cab driver. Any Lemmy is good Lemmy, in my opinion. Enjoy.

UPDATE: Severin just released another one, with [...]

Monster Cereal Mania

Saw a post on Boingboing that featured this cool monster cereal-themed blog. Currently it’s got a post on Jason Edmiston, whose awesome art you can see here if you scroll down a few posts. It’s also fan art month at the Monster Cereal Blog, so if that’s your thing, drop ‘em you best portrait of [...]

Take THAT, Twilight!

I make it no secret that I dislike Twilight. Friends, family, my girlfriend, random strangers, pets… all have heard me make fun of it at one point or another. It has a huge fan base, but so does Nickelback which doesn’t make it any less super lame.
Check out this little video from the folks of [...]
