Sinister Seven: RM Radio’s Stuart Andrews

stuart-cropped-and-resized.jpg

Part two of my interviews with the folks behind Rue Morgue Radio puts Stuart “Feedback” Andrews in the spotlight. For maximum effect, please read his answers with a wry British accent.

1) Describe your role on Rue Morgue Radio.

I conduct interviews with a wide variety of folks connected to the horror industry, from bonafide genre icons to relatively obscure up and comers. And along with my Caustic Critic co-host, I pour either derision or devotion upon some of the latest theatrical and DVD releases.

2) Why radio? What’s the draw of the medium?

I’ve been told I have the perfect face for radio.

3) How many hours a week on average do you work on the show?

It varies from week to week so I don’t have an exact number of hours but it’s fair to say that a lot more time goes into keeping the show on the air each week than I think most people realize.

4) Name one of your favourite interviews that you or someone else on RM
radio has done, and why?

In the two years I’ve been doing the show, I’ve gotten to talk to some of my all time favourite horror heroes but without question, the two interviews I’ve done with George Romero stand out as major high points. Not only am I a huge fan of the man’s work but I’m a huge fan of the man himself. He’s very down to earth, very funny, very intelligent and he’s a fucking film legend. He’s George A. Romero for Chrissakes! H.G. Lewis, Michael Slade and Dr. Uwe Boll were all exceptionally memorable encounters as well.

5) If you could listen to one horror-themed song right now, what would it be and why?

“Goodbye Horses” by Q Lazzarus from The Silence of the Lambs. This is the track that Buffalo Bill listens to while he’s dancing around his basement putting on makeup and playing with his dick. The song never fails to conjure up a delightful world of agony and torment. Plus, I don’t think we’ve ever played it on the show.

6) Aside from RM Radio, what’s one online radio show or podcast that everyone should check out? And it doesn’t have to be horror-related.

I’ve been checking out deadpit.com lately. It’s a horror talk show hosted by a couple of loveable East Kentuckians (well, at least their mothers love them) and, like they’re fond of saying, it’s a horror show for the fans by the fans.

7) If you were to off yourself during a broadcast, what would be the best (entertaining, appropriate, “aurally stunning,” etc.) method you could think of for the medium of radio?

It would have to be a murder/suicide and I’m sure you can figure out who’d be getting murdered in that equation. Hint: He mercilessly pummelled Uwe Boll’s fists with his nose!

I can’t believe you didn’t ask him about his favourite scene in Inland Empire!

I’ve been listening to the RMRadio since the 1st show. When I first started listening to the Caustic Critic’s I usually sided with Chris Alexander and I didn’t like Stuart at all… now I find myself siding with Stuart a lot more. He’s won me over.

That was my plan all along. Now I can die in peace.
