Composer and keyboardist Maurizio Guarini, a veteran of legendary Italian prog-rock band Goblin, is holding a CD release release party for his debut solo album Creatures From a Drawer on Wednesday, June 5 at Lula Lounge (1585 Dundas St. West) in Toronto. Maurizio and guest musicians will perform at the party; they’ll be playing songs from the new album, plus a few classic Goblin tunes as well. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., with the show starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are only $10 at the door, or $25 with CD included. For more information, check out the official event Facebook page.
Maurizio has worked on an impressive list of classic horror flicks, both as a solo artist and as a member of Goblin. His filmography includes Suspiria, Martin, Zombie, The Beyond and many more. Here’s a bit about the new album from the press release:
“Thanks to his ingrained eclecticism and need to explore new and challenging soundscapes, his new album Creatures From a Drawer includes several diverse flavours, and is not limited to any one specific genre. Within its fabric one will find influences from progressive rock, jazz-rock, fusion and ambient evolution, to a taste of the avant-garde. All are clearly recognizable, and his compositions are often dressed with layers of math, Maurizio’s lifetime secondary dominant interest, after music.”
