A Sneak Peek at March’s RM#131!

on February 20, 2013 | 1 Comment

Cast your mortal eyes upon this preview of our March issue, which features an illustrated cover by RM Art Director Justin Erickson! Next month’s cover story is a guided tour through the arcane world of Arthur Machen, one of the architects of the genre we love so much. Machen might not be a household name in your neck of the haunted woods, but try telling that (via the spirit medium of your choice) to H.P. Lovecraft, who called Machen a creator of “cosmic fear raised to its most artistic pitch,” or to Stephen King, who thinks Machen’s “The Great God Pan” just might be the greatest English-language horror story ever written.

In honour of Machen’s 150th birthday, we’ve gathered a panel of experts who know their way around the cosmic-horror block — John Carpenter, Ramsey Campbell and S.T. Joshi — to help us unearth the eerie legacy of weird fiction’s unsung granddaddy. And if you need a reading list, we’ve got you covered; filmmaker Richard Stanley (Hardware, Dust Devil) is on hand with a run-down of his favourite Machen tales. We also get down to some serious brain-pickin’ with Lords of Salem‘s Rob Zombie and Sheri Moon Zombie, give you a primer on The ABCs of Death, explore the mad monster splatter art of Alex Pardee, and much, much more. ON STANDS MARCH 1! Also available for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android, PC and Mac for only $4.99 an issue.

  1. Will this be on Atlanta newsstands? I only know of one with a lot of “film and video”. None of the cyber-forms mentioned mean much to me – do you mean a PDF file?
