Little Terrors 13 short film showcase coming up

on November 18, 2012 | 1 Comment

The thirteenth edition of Little Terrors, a monthly showcase of horror short films co-presented by Rue Morgue and production company Unstable Ground, is coming up this Wednesday, November 21 at Magic Lantern Carlton Cinema (20 Carlton Street, Toronto). Enjoy two full hours of the craziest, goriest, most disturbing and off-the-wall short films the genre has to offer, followed by an in-depth Q&A/meet & greet with some of the filmmakers. The 18+ event starts at 9 p.m.

This month’s theme is Survivors & Sacrifice.* Here’s the full lineup for this month’s event:

Shhh (11 minutes, premiere)
DIR: Freddy Chavez Olmos, Shervin Shoghian
A young boy must use his imagination to overcome his bully: a hair-eating monster.

Yellow (26 minutes, Germany, premiere)
DIR: Ryan Haysom
A reclusive man is on the hunt for a vicious serial killer in neon-lit Berlin. Highly-buzzed about short played this year’s FrightFest, Sitges, ScreamFest and many more.

Paralyzed (8 minutes)
DIR: Aaron Sims
A woman confronts her fiancé in a motel room, only to discover the horrifying secret that has kept him from sleeping for days.

Seed (14 minutes)
DIR: Tyson Wade Johnston
Set in the year 2071, where technology has brought mankind to the brink of colonization on the planet named Gaia, one man takes on an isolated mission and discovers unearthly horrors that could bring an end to life on the planet.

Love From Mother Only (21 minutes, Brazil)
DIR: Dennison Ramalho
A man is torn between nursing his fanatic mother and his obsessive lust for a whore of Satan. His dilemma casts him into an abyss of violence, witchcraft, death and demonic trance. (Programmer Justin McConnell’s personal note: Rue Morgue showed this many years ago while I was new-ish to Toronto, and it has stuck with me ever since. This has to be seen on the big screen… incredibly unsettling)

No Way Out (9 minutes)
DIR: Kristoffer Aaron Morgan
Isolated in a place where twisted creatures torment him from the dark, a man (AJ Bowen) desperately tries to find an escape. Written by AICN’s Eric Vespe. Previous selection of Fantastic Fest.

Shadow Man (12 minutes)
DIR: David Benullo
A young boy discovers firsthand that he has a very good reason to fear the local childhood monster known as the Shadow Man.

Structure Kill (4 minutes)
DIR: Stephen Vitale
An attempted murder in a parking garage goes nowhere you’d expect it to. Fun short.

Proxy: A Slender Man Story (9 minutes)
DIR: Mike Dahlquist
A man becomes obsessed with the myth of the “Slender Man,” and risks his sanity and life in the process. As some primer for this short, research the actual Slender Man myth.

One Response to Little Terrors 13 short film showcase coming up

  1. Colin says:

Couldn’t make it sadly but it’s surprising to see Ramalho’ Love From Mother Only was screened. Got it on the Small Gauge Trama DVD and it’s one of the strongest short films alongside The Separation.
