On this episode of the show, it’s my great pleasure to talk to filmmaker Jennifer Chambers Lynch, daughter of legendary director David Lynch and the subject of Despite The Gods, the documentary that details Ms. Lynch’s ill-fated attempts to direct the Bollywood horror film Hisss.
Also, Jennifer’s coming back to Canada this Summer for the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal for the World Premiere of her latest horror film Chained.
Keep your eyes peeled to the Fantasia website for all the relevant dates.
Endure,

“Let me just clarify something… You are currently in Sherilyn Fenn’s bedroom.”
You know how to play to your audience, my friend.
I need to see DESPITE THE GODS. I think it was you through Choneook or something like that who sent me the link to the trailer awhile back and I was stunned.
By the way, I’d like to go on record as someone who absolutely adored BOXING HELENA and took a ton of flack from a lot people for championing it waaaay back when it was new. In fact, that film came out during my illustrious days as a video store jockey wunderkind and it holds the distinction of being 1 of 3 video cassette titles that was actually THROWN AT ME by an irate customer for recommending it.
But I stood by it then, and I stand by it now. People have no vision. It’s a masterwork. And SURVEILLANCE was a terrific little slow burn thriller with a great cast. I hope Ms. Lynch is able to continue to make films and gets her due respect sometime soon.
Great interview, Feedback. It would have been better if you recorded it IN Sherilyn Fenn’s bedroom, though.
We have this in common – I used to get into BOXING HELENA debates myself.
I saw it at the Toronto film festival WAAAAAAY back in the day. At the time, I was doing a film-related radio show at the school radio station and I got into huge debates with my co-hosts about the flick.
They were immune to its charms and in fact thought I was mental for championing the film.
I’ve never been back to revisit so I’m not sure how it holds up to my initial defense but I felt at the time that my co-hosts were failing to appreciate its perverse, fairy tale, subversive charms.
