Ready to build a new audio monster? The third installment of our free downloadable music compilation, Hymns From the House of Horror, kicks off today with the first of (at least) eleven curated horror cuts – including exclusive tracks, previously unreleased oddities and sneak peeks – to be rolled out one at a time for each issue of Rue Morgue’s 2012 publishing schedule. As has been custom, these tracks will only be available for a limited time so get ‘em while the gettin’s good, as they say.

You’ll notice in March’s RM#120 that we now have a Hymns boxed review in Audio Drome, where we’ll review a new album and squeeze something killer (and whenever possible, coveted) out of it. Releasing this new collection one track per month allows us to take suggestions from you, Dear Reader, and also be more timely. I’m also hoping that we can swing some mindblowing bonus tracks to sweeten the pot throughout the year.

So, get started! Download the first track from Hymns Vol. III: “Olivia (Object of My Infection),” a previously unreleased take of a ditty from horror folk-punks Harley Poe that’s easily as catchy as whatever the band picked up from old Olivia.

On a related note, the previous incarnation of Hymns has been nominated for a Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Award. Please vote for us in this, and the other seven categories we’ve been given the nod! This is the second nomination for Hymns in as many years, maybe we can take home some hardware this time. And don’t forget to visit the Hymns III Facebook page for more info and all the latest band announcements!
