TEEN WOLF SINKS TEETH INTO TV

on November 10, 2010 | 3 Comments

We didn’t see this one coming.

Teen Wolf — yes, the 1985 Michael J. Fox comedy movie where everyone’s favourite Canadian plays a high schooler who turns into a werewolf at puberty — has been re-conceived as a TV drama which will premiere on MuchMusic in Canada next spring. (MTV has it for the US.)

Tyler Posey (Lincoln Heights) will star as Scott McCall, a dorky high school kid who survives a wolf attack in the woods with just a bite — a bite that, you guessed it, turns him into a werewolf. Suddenly Scott finds himself with new powers — including the ability to attract girls for the first time.

Blame or credit the new take on Criminal Minds creator Jeff Davis. MTV Senior Vice President Liz Gateley has hinted that the series will be darker than its source material.

“It has a fresh take and is very different from the original,” Gateley has said. “It has more of an American Werewolf in Paris feel to it.”

Um, does Ms. Gately realize that An American Werewolf in Paris sucked? Not the best comparison perhaps, but we are intrigued by the idea. Key question, though: will this Posey kid get to strut his lycanthropic stuff on the basketball court?

  1. Trevor says:

It is here that I will admit I went as Teen Wolf for Halloween when I was 10-years-old.

  2. Scotty says:

Oh dear, Trevor. Drunk posting is as bad as drunk texting. ;)

Actually, that’s rather ambitious for a 10 yr-old. I went as one of the Hardy Boys in just a flannel shirt.

  3. Teen Wolf! Awesome costume. Beats my godawful homemade Ghostbusters costume constructed from my dad’s coveralls, some glued on homemade paper Ghostbusters logs, a backpack and a toy gun.
